• Agege French Toast Roll Up

Agege French Toast was originally on my menu the day I made this breakfast dish. I then did not feel like having a sweet dish for breakfast so I decided to go savoury. I had some sausages in the fridge and decided to make Agege French Toast Roll ups with a pigs in a blanket twist. Afrolems has come again. All this on top bread, egg and sausage? Yes o!

For those who don’t know, pigs in a blanket are snacks that have the sausage sticking out on both ends of the bread dough. The perfect canapes if you ask me. If you dont have access to sausages, you can substitute shredded chicken or beef already prepared in this recipe. I decided to use Agege Bread because it is super stretchy and works well for this dish. You can also use normal bread. I also have some other french toast recipes you can access here. Enjoy the recipe.

Recipe for Agege French Toast Roll Up

    Ingredients

    1 loaf of Agege Bread

    2 large sausages

    1 egg

    1/4 cup of milk

    1 teaspoon of sugar

    1 teaspoon of black pepper

    A pinch of chicken seasoning

1 tablespoon of Vegetable Oil or Butter

    Method

On a flat surface, cut your bread vertically into however many slices that you want to use.

With a rolling pin, roll out the bread slices till flat. Set aside. If you don’t have a rolling pin, use a smooth bottle.

In a pot, boil your sausages for about 3-5 minutes.

Whisk your egg, sugar, black pepper, chicken seasoning and milk and set aside.

Cut your sausage and take one piece, place on the bread and roll up.

Dip the rolled bread in the whisked egg mixture and place in a heated pan to fry.

Turn around on all sides till brown.

Serve the Agege French Toast Roll Up with other breakfast accompaniments or as a standalone breakfast.
