    Cinnamon Chin Chin for the Win

    For the past month on my blog, I have noticed in a surge in the search of chin chin recipes. The focus has been on soft chin chin for some reason. Luckily, I had the recipe already uploaded. Now that i am in the middle of my #12daysofChristmas series, I decided to slide in another chin chin recipe. It is very similar to the other one I have up with a few tweaks here and there. Plus being that it is christmas, I added some cinnamon to create a holiday taste. You can also play with it and add different things to the dough like milo or ovaltine for a different taste for your chin chin. Here is my Cinnamon chin chin for the holidays.

    Recipe for Cinnamon Chin Chin

    Ingredients

    2 3/4 cups of all purpose flour

    1/3 cup of butter/margarine

    1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon powder

    1/4 cup of milk

    1 egg

    1/2 cup of sugar

    1 teaspoon of vanilla

    Pinch of Salt

    Oil for deep frying

    Method

    In a large bowl, work the butter into the flour till well incorporated.

    Whisk the egg with the sugar till frothy and set aside.

    Sprinkle the salt and cinnamon powder in the flour mix and combine.

    Add the egg and sugar mix to the flour bowl, add the vanilla and milk and combine properly till the dough is properly formed. (Sprinkle more flour if dough is too sticky)

    Cover the dough and place in the fridge for 30 minutes

    On a board or on a clean surface, sprinkle some flour and roll out the dough to 1/4 thickness and cut your dough into little square pieces

    Heat up your oil for frying and toss in the little squares and fry till golden brown.

    Serve by sprinkling more cinnamon on the chin chin or serve as is.

      the milk for cinnamon chin chin is it liquid or powder .n secondly is water necessary for mixing other type of chin chin thanks . Gloria

        Hello Gloria, it’s liquid milk I used. I personally do not use extra water in my chin chin, I always prefer to use more milk if anything but that is just a personal preference.

      Hi! Tried this recipe today and I looove it 😄 Thank you! I sprinkled brown sugar mixed with cinnamon after frying it to satisfy my sweet tooth 😉

      Hello, pls what’s the reason for putting the dough in the fridge for 30mins (I actually leave mine overnight but no special reason)

        Its just allowing the dough to rest. You dont have to put in the fridge, just make sure its resting in a cool environment.
