How come Nigerians don’t have this as a street food? I guess we have bole so it makes up for it somehow. I decided to merge my love for bole and groundnut with this popular ghanian street food called Kelewele. It is basically spicy fried plantain and you can use any spice you wish. I have seen where some people use blended habanero peppers instead of chilli powder so you can use that as well. Enjoy my version of kelewele with spicy peanut butter.
Ingredients
1 finger of ripe plantain
A pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of chilli powder / 1 tablespoon of pepper sauce
1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder
1/2 teaspoon of onion powder (optional)
Method
Cut your plantain to your desired shape.
Mix in your spices.
Heat up your oil and fry your plantain.
Place in a paper towel to drain.
Spicy Peanut Butter
Ingredients
A handful of peanuts
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 tablespoon of water
Method
Blend the peanuts, hot sauce and water to a semi-crunchy paste.
Serve with the Kelewele.
