• Pink Spaghetti, Meat Balls and Creamy Sauce

I have been trying to figure out what dishes to make for valentines day as I have started getting requests and I have to say it hasn’t been easy as most things have been done. When I thought of this dish, I remembered a story I read as a child called The lady and the tramp and the romantic dinner they had consisted of pasta and meatballs and voila this idea was born. I thought of making something different with the spaghetti and colouring it pinkish-red came to mind. You can choose to skip that part if you feel it’s too weird for you but I quite liked it. If you do end up making it, send us the pictures of your dishes to afrolems@gmail.com and we would post them on our social media accounts. Enjoy!

    Ingredients

    Meatballs

    1 pound ground beef

    1 teaspoon of salt

    1/2 teaspoon of chilli powder

    1/2 teaspoon of curry

    A pinch of thyme

    1 stock cube

    1 piece of garlic

    1/4 teaspoon of shredded parsley

    1 spring onion

    1 tablespoon bread crumbs

    1 egg

    Creamy Sauce

    1 tablespoon of butter

    3 garlic pieces

    1 cup of heavy cream

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon pepper

    Chicken seasoning

    Cheese *optional*

    Method

Chop your onions and garlic and mix into the meatballs.

Season the meatballs with the salt, pepper, curry, thyme, stock cube and parsley.

Mix in the bread crumbs and set aside.

Heat up the oven to 350 F and grease the pan that the meatballs will be baked in.

Scoop and roll the ground beef in your hand, dip in the whisked egg and place in the greased pan.

Place in the oven and cook for 30-40 minutes.

Boil your spaghetti and drop 1/2 teaspoon of red colouring or more as needed.

    For the creamy sauce

Heat up the butter and sautee the garlic for 1-2 minutes on medium heat.

Pour in the cream and stir occasionally.

Add your salt and pepper and a pinch of chicken seasoning

If adding cheese, add at this point. If not stir occasionally till sauce thickens and drizzle over the meatballs and pasta.

    Valentines dinner is ready 🙂

        Hello Uche,
Thanks for the compliment. I do not mean salad cream, there is something known as cooking cream. If you live in Lagos and you go to shop rite, they may have it in the section they sell fresh milk or any big supermarket. Just ask for cooking cream and they should point you in the right direction.

Hi Mercy, you could get it from goodies or shop-rite but it is optional to your dish.
