• Happy New Year from Afrolems

    Happy New Year to all my beloved Afrolems Fans. I bet you all had an amazing holiday filled with yummy dishes and recipes. I did as well. I was in Nigeria for the Holidays and threw down with my mum on a number of occasions. I also saw some interesting cooking scenarios and also met the famous Chef Fregz. Hope your holiday was amazing. What did you have on Christmas day or New Years day?

    My Holiday started with a Wedding and Child dedication event that served Small Chops (a combination of finger foods). Puff Puff (Nigerian Donuts), Samosa, Spring Rolls, Barbecue Chicken, Asun

    My Best Friend‘s mum threw down some Yam Pottage and I did not know she made it with Olive Oil.

    I was at a suya location somewhere in Festac, Lagos and they had a very weird preparation method of their Chicken Suya (Barbecued chicken). I found it somewhat Creepy but everyone else seemed to be lining up for the Chicken Suya.

    I also visited a local restaurant (Buka) where they were serving Agege Bread and Ewa Agoyin for breakfast. Apparently Agoyin is a tribe that is from Togo. I just found that out this Christmas 🙂

    Next Stop was the Christmas day Throw down with my mum and I. My best friend also came over for Christmas Lunch.

    I went to the famous Chefs event that was held at BIC Gardens with Chef Fregz, Chef Eros and Chef Tanq. Met the Famous Chef Fregz and even helped out at his booth. It was tons of fun.

    I had some Agbalumo on my trip as well 🙂 Was so excited. The other name for this is African Cherry Orange for those that don’t know.

      Found your blog via twitter. Will be adding you to my blogroll 🙂 Looks like you had a lot of fun at home. I was at Chefs in The Park but I left before it really started. How did it turn out?

      Okra and stew is my favorite nigerian dish, it is also my staple welcome home dish 🙂

      Welcome back. You inspired me to go for the roast smoked hickory ham for Xmas. Tried to spruce it up (decor wise) like you have showed us how and it tured out really well. Hope I can share the pics sometime.
